A unique Pokémon you can find in Pokémon Sword and Shield is called Type: Null. It’s a Normal-type Pokémon that looks like a dog, but with a massive muzzle wrapped around its face. Luckily, this Pokémon is not difficult to find.

To gain access to this Pokémon, you need to have beaten the game and entered the Hall of Fame. After you see the credits roll, you have access to the rest of the game. You need to return to the Battle Tower, and when you enter the facility, look to the left of the establishment. There’s a generic trainer in a black-and-white uniform standing next to a Type: Null. Begin talking to them, and eventually, they’re going to hand off their Pokémon to you as a form of celebration to commemorate your accomplishments. You receive it at level 50.

You also receive a series of memories, and these memories determine what type its evolution form, Silvally, will have when it evolves. To have a specific type, you need to have it holding the particular memory.

Now, to evolve Type: Null into a Silvally, you need to raise its friendship with you. Luckily, Pokémon Sword and Shield have plenty of methods on how you can go about this.

Playing with Type: Null in camp and feeding it curry is an excellent way to raise its friendship levels with you quickly. You can also go and speak to the friendship checker in Hammerlocke to double-check your progress. When you feel you’re ready to evolve it, choose what type of Memory it’s holding.

You should have one for all of the types in your inventory. Give one of them to Type: Null, and when it next levels up with its maximum happiness, the Silvally should be the same type of the Memory disc you gave it.
