Mara Lane is an American actress and film producer whose fame came after she featured as Jasmine in one episode of the comedy television series The Brink in 2015 – a show which featured actors like Pablo Schreiber, Jack Black, among others. Mara Tied The Knot In a Private Wedding

Lane has been married to famous Irish Actor, Jonathan Rhys Meyer since 2016. The couple began dating in January 2013, after which they were engaged for a year in 2014. They quietly had a private marriage ceremony in the year 2016 after three years of dating.

Mara and her husband kept their marriage secret for a while until one of the actress’ posts on Instagram in late 2016 revealed she had changed her last name to Rhys Meyer in her new passport. Prior to that, she had referred to Jonathan as her husband, partner, and soulmate in an Instagram post she shared in the same year.

Mara Lane’s Irish husband was originally born on 27th July 1977 as Jonathan Michael Francis O’Keefe, he would however change his name to his mother’s maiden name, Meyer when he ventured into acting. He has featured in commercially successful movies like Dracula as well as successful shows like The Tudors and Vikings.

Mara’s union with Meyer has been blessed with a son whom they named Wolf Rhys Meyer. He was birthed on the 15th of December 2016. A year after the birth of their boy, the couple lost their would-be baby No. 2, a daughter (who they named Willow) to a miscarriage.

The Loss of their unborn child took a toll on their marriage

In 2017, Mara’s miscarriage robbed off wrongly on the Irish actor, as he became troubled emotionally during this period. Thus, he reverted back to alcoholism, having battled with depression. He was reported to have acted out of character at times in public. Jonathan’s erratic behaviors as a result of alcohol addiction, in recent years, have brought him much media attention than his career.

Despite entering the rehabilitation centre multiple times from 2005 to 2009, the actor still made headlines in 2017 due to his alcoholism, as he verbally abused his wife on a flight traveling from Miami to Los Angeles. It happened that Jonathan was smoking an e-cigarette on board an American Airline and his wife asked him to quit smoking on board. The Tudors actor lost it and yelled uncontrollably at her.

He reportedly told her on the flight that they would be getting a divorce when they get back as she had been too annoying for him. Prior to the outburst, Jonathan Rhys Meyer was said to have ordered multiple drinks and had visited the restroom up to 15 times. He also had an altercation with a flight attendant earlier before lashing out at his wife. The situation got really bad that an off-duty pilot was reportedly asked to stay in the cabin in order to keep an eye on him and equally monitor the situation.

On arriving home, The Brink actress apologised on behalf of her husband on her Instagram handle and stated that they arrived home safely. She is indeed not doing badly as she has been standing as her husband’s support and pillar over the years.

The incident was not the first time her husband has been on the news as a result of his eccentric behaviors. According to the Daily Mail, he was apprehended at Dublin airport for drunkenness and as a result, was prohibited from boarding a flight at JFK airport.
