Do You Keep Your Ketchup In The Fridge?
The label of every single ketchup bottle says
"For best results, refrigerate after opening"
So do you follow the direction and put your ketchup in the fridge?

Of course I refrigerate it! I'm not a savage!

What's to discuss? It says keep it in the fridge after you open. If you don't, you die.

Restaurants don't. Why should I?

Not every bottle says that

My partner often leaves things out overnight that should be refrigerated. I used to throw things away when he did this, because I thought that I would get sick. It became very expensive. I now eat things that have been left out overnight…coffee creamer, condiments, etc. and I haven’t been sick yet. Some things say to refrigerate that don’t make sense (soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce for example)…no bacteria is growing in anything with that much sodium.

Ketchup isn't allowed in my house because it is vil.
That being said - restaurants don't refrigerate it because they go through it so fast. Way faster than in a private home.

You don't need to refrigerate mayonnaise either.

I didn't know you COULDN'T keep ketchup in the fridge. Are there some varieties that have higher salt or sugar quantities? They would act as a preservative at any temperature, I guess.

Who eats ketchup anymore? Savages!

Neither ketchup nor mayonnaise needs to be refrigerated - but mayonnaise will separate, and ketchup may decline in quality (darken) with age. So I keep these condiments in the refrigerator to keep them looking nice rather than as a matter of food safety. People are always certain it's the mayonnaise that gives people food poisoning at a picnic, whereas it's usually something like the fried chicken having sat in the heat for too long....
