Chloe Grace Moretz Defends Her Tweets About Kim Kardashians Nude Selfie
Chloë Grace Moretz isn’t afraid to speak her mind, and encourages others to do so. In a new interview with Elle, the Carrie actress is continuing to stand by her remarks regarding Kim Kardashian’s headline-making March 7 nude mirror selfie.
When Elle asked what compelled her to speak out about 35-year-old Kardashian’s risqué post, the 19-year-old explained that she was hoping people would see the bigger picture.
“All I’ll say is that I think a lot of things can be misconstrued in a lot of ways,” Moretz told the mag. “And I think if people open their minds more, and they try to look deeper into something than just something that is a very big, hot, fiery button to hide behind … I think if people looked into something bigger that I was trying to speak upon, they wouldn’t be so easy to fire back silly, miscellaneous things.”
The vocal star first retweeted Bette Midler’s tweet about how the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star would need to swallow a camera to show fans something new. The 5th Wave actress then tweeted at the Selfish author, who is married to Kanye West: “I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies.” Kardashian later sniped back at the teen: “Let’s all welcome @ChloeGMoretz to twitter, since no one knows who she is. your nylon cover is cute boo.”

Moretz told Elle that when it comes to using social media, people shouldn’t be nervous about being real.
“Depict yourself adequately as what you want to be seen as. Don’t front, don’t put something out there that you feel isn’t realistic and doesn’t portray who you are,” Moretz added. “Just be yourself, be you, and don’t be afraid to speak your mind.”
