Alex Bennett reveals husband split two months after leaving Barstool Sports
Popular podcaster Alex Bennett shared that she has split from her husband in the latest episode of her fan-favorite show.
The former Barstool Sports employee addressed the matter head-on in an episode titled “Alex’s Relationship Status” in which she recounted the split and her current feelings towards it.
Bennett, who is one half of the Mean Girl podcast, said she promised her husband that she would give it her all when discussing the split on her podcast—something she says he requested at the time.
Alex was married to Graham Bennett, the son of the Oklahoma City Thunder owner.
Alex Bennett married her partner in 2019
Alex met her husband Graham at a wedding in Oklahoma when she was 20 years old and together they moved to Newport Beach, California. The podcaster said she’s still thankful her husband was the one who encouraged her to move away from Oklahoma.
They wed in April 2019 and eventually moved again to New York, where Alex still lives now.
In April of this year, things seemed to be looking good for the couple still when Alex shared an anniversary video to mark four years since they married. On Instagram, she posted a video full of moments from their time married so far, along with the song “You’re Still The One.”
Why the couple split
Alex explained that the married couple didn’t end with any intense drama. “We never argued,” she said. “We weren’t fighting, we weren’t mad, we weren’t yelling.”
However, the pair appeared to be simply moving in different directions in life and mutually decided it was for the best.
Last year, Graham wanted to move back to Oklahoma, Alex explained. Initially, she agreed and planned to move back with him but along the way, she realized that they weren’t “on the same page anymore.”
“From January to April, he wanted to go back to Oklahoma and I was down,” she recalled. “But after we made the decision, our future, which once looked so clear, looked a little different.”
The podcaster explained that in the following months, they were both doing things for one another that “they didn’t really want to.” By May, they began to have difficult conversations about the future of the marriage.
“Our hearts were going to be in different places,” she said. “We very much knew what we were looking at. He was going to go back to Oklahoma and I was going to stay here.”
On good terms with Graham
Alex explained that her former husband told her during the break-up: “I love you so much that I’m going to let you go and I know you love me so much that you’re going to let me go.”
She added that the pair are still on good terms with one another and that she wouldn’t change anything about the entire experience, despite it ending.
